There is need to promote poverty programmes – UN

UNITED Nations (UN) resident co-ordinator Janet Rogan says there is need to promote collaborative participation among stakeholders in implementing programmes aimed at reducing poverty in communities.
Ms Rogan said poverty levels in communities can only reduce if non-government organisations (NGOs) and the donor community partnered with the local people to identify programmes that can have a positive impact on their lives.
“Collaboration in reducing poverty in communities is very important. A non-government organisation can provide a solution to the problem that the people in the communities are facing and the people in the community can build on that, thus moving away from poverty,” she said.READ MORE
