TEVETA to hold digital migration training

From SHIKANDA SILUNGWE in Livingstone
THE Technical Education Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA), says it is in the process of introducing training programmes on digital migration to assist the country to smoothly migrate from analog to digital by 2015.
TEVETA director general David Chakonta said the authority is currently consulting various stakeholders regarding the training programmes for personnel engaged by Government to run the digital migration process.
Mr Chakonta said on Tuesday that the institution is further consulting on the jobs and skills required to drive the digital migration program.
He disclosed that a course on digital media is scheduled to be introduced at the Evelyn Hone College later this year.
Mr Chakonta is optimistic the digital migration programme will create jobs across the country.
He said TEVETA will endeavour to empower youths with technical and entrepreneurship skills that will contribute to the transition process.
He urged the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), who are the anchors of the digital migration process, to consider engaging trained, skilled and talented youths in the programme.
Mr Chakonta said TEVETA stands ready to assist Government to successfully migrate from analog to digital broadcasting.
