YOUNG & AMBITIOUS with SHIKANDA KAWANGA, Kazungula
AT 18 and in grade nine, Isaac Zulu of Riverside Secondary School dreams of becoming an Information Communication Technology (ICT) specialist once he completes secondary education.
He says he wants to help in the development of ICT in Zambia.
Isaac says he wants to study ICT at any international university so that he can be of great service to his country.
“I believe I will be able to get the best education abroad and help out my country in developing ICT,” he said.
The first in a family of five, Isaac wants to make a difference by becoming the first ICT specialist among his sibblings.
Isaac said he wants to be very successful in his career so that he can take care of his mother and his siblings.
He works very hard at school and does not leave anything to chance, Isaac enjoys studying and is determined to achieve his goals.
“I usually wake up at night. It is usually quiet and easy for me to concentrate on my studies. I believe studying is the only way I can make sure I achieve all my goals,” he said.
His favourite subjects at school are mathematics, science and history while his favourite meal is chicken with nshima.
Isaac enjoys praying and socialising with friends during his free time.
He has advised his fellow pupils and other young people out there to focus on their education and not involve themselves in immoral and violent acts that may destroy their future.
“I have noticed that many pupils, nowadays, are influenced by friends and develop bad habits such as smoking, drinking beer and causing trouble in school. My advice to my fellow pupils is that they should obey their teachers and avoid peer pressure so that they can focus on better things,” he said.
Isaac said his peers must know that no one can employ even a garden boy who doesn’t know how to read and write.
He also advised his peers to always look up to God and put him first in everything they do because nothing is impossible with him.
