Tazara, Mopani in talks

THE Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is in talks with Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mines on the possibility of the two mining firms transporting at least 8,000 tonnes of copper per month using the railway line.
And TAZARA requires about US$250 million capital injection to enable it to address issues of infrastructure, rolling stock and investment in skilled human capital among other things.
TAZARA deputy managing director Betram Kiswaga said in an interview yesterday shortly after Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Richard Musukwa and his counterpart from Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma toured the TAZARA stand yesterday.
