A LUSAKA-BASED taxi driver has dragged a police officer to court for alleged false imprisonment.
Dickson Zulu is now demanding over K2,000 for special damages after he was allegedly assaulted by the police officer.
In a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court last week, Mr Zulu alleged that on September 11, 2017 around 03:45 hours, constable Kabwe of Linda Police Post, in the company of another police reserve, apprehended him without reasonable cause.
Mr Zulu alleges that despite him co-operating, Constable Kabwe allgedly handcuffed him and beat him using the butt of a gun, fists and kicks, before taking him to Linda Police Post.
Mr Zulu further said when he was taken to the police post, constable Kabwe allegedly continued beating him using an iron bar, short baton and a bicycle tyre, causing him severe personal injuries.
