Tanzania invites ZBF for 4-nation tourney

By HONE SIAME
THE Tanzania Boxing Federation (TBF) has invited Zambia for this month-end’s four-nation tournament.
Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) president Thomas Chileshe said in Kitwe on Thursday that they will send the under-20 national team to Dar-es-Salaam.
Chileshe named Kenya, Uganda and hosts Tanzania as the other participants.
“We are grateful to the Tanzania Boxing Federation for inviting us for this important tournament. The tournament will greatly help us to prepare our boxers for the Zone Six Games in Zimbabwe,” Chileshe said.
The Supreme Council for Sport in Africa Zone Six Under-20 Games will be held in Harare in December.
Chileshe said the national amateur boxing governing body needs K30,000 to send the team to Tanzania.
“We want to send six boxers for this tournament. We are just appealing to the business community to help us in raising the funds,” he said.
The two-day tournament will start on September 26.
“We have to put boys in residential camp every after two weeks until the time the team will leave for Zone Six Games,” Chileshe said.
He also said the ZBF has received another invitation from Morocco to send senior national team boxers for next month’s Kings Cup.
