ZAMBIAN artisans should take advantage of the yawning US$40 billion international artefacts market by producing and exporting various handcrafts, a consultant has said.
The Private Enterprise Programme Zambia (PEPZ) consultant Elaine Bellezza said Zambia is in a strong and competitive position with a range of products that could be attractive to both local and international buyers.
Ms Bellezza said the handcrafts sub-sector has a potential to contribute to Zambia’s aspiration of value addition and industrialisation.
“Handicrafts should be taken seriously as a manufacturing sector in its own right,” she said during the Zambian Crafts Showcase expo sponsored by the http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
