AFTER being detained in police custody for allegedly attempting to steal a goat together with his friends, a 32-year-old man of Kitwe is said to have committed suicide while in detention.
Philison Kahalu, of Zamtan Township, allegedly hanged himself using socks while detained at Zamtan Police Post on Monday between 03:00 hours and 04:30 hours.
Kahalu had allegedly gone to steal at Muleya Farms in Zamtan Township on Friday around 23:00 hours in the company of others, who ran away.
When Kahalu and his colleagues entered the farm, they went to a house where they keep goats and decided to pick one goat, which they choked.
However, farm manager Maurice Bwalya, 27, rushed to go and check on the goats after he heard some noises.
But when the thieves spotted Mr Bwalya, they ran away as he gave chase and managed to apprehend Kahalu with help from the CLICK TO READ MORE
