Arrows tame Diggers

ROBINSON KUNDA reports:

ARROWS 12  DIGGERS  8

RED Arrows clung to their lead on the Zambia Rugby Football Union (ZRFU) Super Eight when they overcame "Men at Work" Diggers in a tightly contested match at the Show grounds in Lusaka yesterday.

Arrows under the tutelage of Nigel Mukuyungwa, took the lead only five minutes into the lead when Noble Chisanga scored a drop kick.

Arrows increased their lead 15 minutes later through Patrick Chama who converted a penalty which was awarded after Diggers players had fouled Chisanga in the danger zone.

The visitors however, refused to be intimidated and replied few minutes to full time through Grant Mwila who converted a penalty after outstanding Alex "Ucar" Mwila who had been fouled by uneasy Arrows players.

Diggers who featured almost all their best players who included Armitage Nyondo, Ronnel Armegos and Happy Chipili tried to pile pressure on their hosts but placing a try still proved to be a difficult task.

It was instead the "Air men" who stretched their lead with drop kicks from Chama and Edwin Zulu to ensure the hosts collected maximum points to remain on course for the title with 32 points while Diggers remained stuck on 27.
