IT whiz kid Kaziwe has world at his feet

Who does ERB serve?

RECENTLY, the Energy Regulation Board awarded Zesco Limited an 11 per cent tariff hike from the 15 per cent which the electricity firm had requested. The upward adjustment is with immediate effect. This increase was awarded despite unanimous objections by many stakeholders. Our staffer, DANIEL NYAU, looks at the impact of the hike and whether it is necessary that ERB should continue holding public hearings in future since people's submissions seem to have been consistently ignored by the energy regulator.

SHOULD the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) continue to consult stakeholders before making any decision to increase electricity tariffs, or the energy regulator should simply make a decision without having to conduct public hearings? Do people's submissions hold water?   (Full story)
