THE successful separation of Siamese twins, Bupe and Mapalo, by a team of 30 doctors at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka last week, has elated not only the parents of the children, but also the entire country.
The operation is indeed a milestone. This is because it has shown the world that Zambia has well-qualified medical personnel who can handle any complex medical problem.
In the past, some medical cases were referred to other countries for treatment. This is no longer the case.
