JESUIT Centre for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has urged Government to increase funding to strengthen the provision of extension services if agriculture is to become the major driver of Zambia’s economy.
And Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary Julius Shawa says Government will continue facilitating the creation of an enabling environment that will allow stakeholders in the agriculture sector to treat the industry as a business.
Speaking at the launch of two reports titled ‘Assessment of agricultural policies and laws in Zambia and Assessment of agro-processing and strengthening value chains for economic transformation’ that were commissioned by the JCTR, executive director Emmanuel Mumba said there is need to promote agriculture as a way of transforming the economy.
