THE Community Markets for Conservation (COMACO) says farmer cooperatives need to strengthen their operation systems to harness the rural development potential.
COMACO has introduced a new, low-cost training approach to strengthen the leadership skills of the cooperatives.
According to the company’s latest newsletter, the methodology involves local-language learning modules, consisting of 12 to15 recorded lectures uploaded onto MP3 Lifeline radio players that are solar-powered.
“The lectures are played back in the village at locations where cooperative leaders are accompanied by a local adult instructor to facilitate a group learning experience,” the publication reads.
