GOVERNMENT has launched a strategic plan for people with disabilities to enable them enjoy equal opportunities.
Launching the strategic plan in Lusaka on Saturday, Minister of Community Development and Social Services Emerine Kabanshi said the initiative is aimed at promoting an inclusive society.
“The plan will enable persons with disabilities enjoy equal rights and opportunities that are fundamental for living and development,” Ms Kabanshi said.
She said the launch is a sign of government’s commitment to ensuring that the basic rights of persons with disabilities are promoted and protected.
Mr Kabanshi said the Zambia Association for People with Disabilities (ZAPD), with support from other stakeholders, will use the strategic plan to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities.
And ZAPD acting director Barnabas Chitalu thanked Government for its commitment to supporting the agency.
Dr Chitalu said the strategic plan is a commitment to pursuing the vision of an inclusive society where persons with disabilities will enjoy equal opportunities.
