Story of stranded students saddening

Dear editor,
ON JULY 31, 2017, the daily newspapers carried a story on 36 students who are stranded in India.

This is indeed sad.
According to the Zambian High Commission in India, most of them are stranded because their parents could not sustain payment of school fees.
This is indeed saddening. Parents should not rush to send their children abroad if they cannot afford to pay school fees.
One wonders if these students were even given enough money for their upkeep.
Parents should understand that sending their children to far-off countries without sufficient funding exposes them to bad vices such as prostitution, drug trafficking and robbery.
Some morally weak students are forced to engage in vices to sustain themselves.
Please parents, only send your children abroad for studies if you know you can afford.
