THE Ministry of Tourism and Arts has warned operators who have erected illegal structures and extensions which are not approved by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) in game management areas.
Spokesperson Sakabilo Kalembwe said the structures will be demolished because they contravene the department’s general management plan.
Mr Kalembwe said illegal structures and extensions create a likelihood of human wildlife conflicts as they are built in animal corridors.
He said in a statement yesterday that the situation can also lead to habitat destruction which fuels the phenomenon of climatic change.
“This developing problem is common in the Lupande Game Management Area (GMA) in Mfuwe and Chiawa GMA in the Lower Zambezi National Park,” Mr Kalembwe said.
And Mr Kalembwe said the ministry has placed a total of 1,664 officers under the Public Service Management Division out of the Treasury Authority of 1,752 that was given for former Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) staff. http://epaper.daily-mail.co.zm/
