State vows to protect Zambians

GOVERNMENT will protect the interest of poor Zambians from policy and structural reforms which may erode their livelihood.
Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary for Economic Management Mukuli Chikuba says the economic stabilisation and growth programme is meant to transform the country’s economy.
Mr Chikuba said Government will also endevour to implement a fair taxation as it steps up its domestic mobilisation drive aimed at raising sufficient resources to deliver public services, including upscaling social protection programmes.
“Government will ensure that the ordinary and poor Zambians are insulated from any reforms that may erode their livelihood,” he said.
Mr Chikuba was speaking on the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation’s Sunday interview programme.
