State ‘takes’ trees to Lunga

MANSA – The Department of Forestry in Lunga district has embarked on a programme to sensitise people on the importance of tree planting within their communities as a way of encouraging them have trees to use on both domestic and commercial scale.
The department is supplying seedlings of various species to the people and encouraging them to plant on wood lots.
District Forestry Officer Bernard Banda said in an interview in Lunga on Tuesday that most parts of the district were swampy area and, therefore, had no trees, making it difficult for people to find wood domestic and commercial purposes.
