TRYNESS MBALE, Lusaka
GOVERNMENT is in the process of revising the National Housing policy and develop implementation plans to accelerate housing development in the country.
Currently, Zambia has an estimated housing deficit of three million housing units.
Deputy Ministry of Local Government and Housing Nicholas Banda said the estimates of the housing deficit are expected to increase due to urbanisation and population growth, hence the need to accelerate housing development.
Officiating at the opening of the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS) conference yesterday, Mr Banda said the growth provides an opportunity for both Government and private sector to invest in housing infrastructure development.
