Letter to the Editor

State should monitor schools for compliance with new fees

Dear editor,
AS A parent of school-going children, I wish to commend Government for its decision to reduce user fees in all public schools.
As a retiree without stable income and considering the hard economic times, I have been struggling to pay fees for my children.
And sometimes they have ended up being sent away missing out on lessons.
It is hoped that Government would put measures in place to enforce the new fees.
I say so because in as much Government has banned the compulsory sale of uniforms at schools, the practice has continued.
Government should severely punish those who will ignore the directive, which is long overdue.
CONCERNED CITIZEN
