State releases K2 million

GOVERNMENT has released funds for construction of a K2 million sports complex in Mufumbwe district in North-Western Province.
Mufumbwe district commissioner Mankishi Mukokwe said in an interview that Government has released the funds to build a sports complex in the district.
“Government has released K2 million to Mufumbwe district for the construction of a sports complex and currently the contractors are conducting site visits but very soon works on the project will start,” Mukokwe said.
She said the release of the funds demonstrates the importance Government attaches to the development of sport in the country.
Mukokwe said the sports complex, once completed, will help the youths in the district develop their talent and compete favourably in various sports disciplines at national level.
She urged the youths to make use of the facility being built by Government at a high cost to better their lives by participating in various sports disciplines that will be available at the complex.
Mukokwe is optimistic youths in Mufumbwe will be empowered once the sports complex is completed.
In October last year, Mufumbwe member of Parliament Steven Masumba announced during Independence celebrations that Government had sourced K2 million for the construction of a sports complex in Mufumbwe.
