State moves to protect local industries

GOVERNMENT has started drafting the Trade Remedy Act to protect the domestic industries from the adverse consequences of dumping.
Trade remedies are acceptable principles of free trade under the World Trade Organisation such as anti-dumping measures, and safeguard measures that can be used by a country to protect domestic industry from unfair trade.
Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma said Government is concerned about reports of influx of illegal imported sugar and other products.
