State mourns Chief Muchinka

GOVERNMENT is saddened by the death of Chief Muchinka of Chitambo District in Central Province.
Chief Muchinka, who was one of the two Lala traditional leaders in Chitambo district, died on Thursday around 23:00 hours after an illness.
He was 92 years and he ascended to the throne in 1982.
Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga said Government will miss Chief Muchinka, who had served Zambia as governor for Serenje in the administration of first republican President Kenneth Kaunda (1964-1991).
Mr Mushanga, who was among government officials who attended the burial of the chief on Saturday, said in an interview yesterday that Chief Muchinka had worked well with successive governments in uplifting the living conditions of his people.
