State monitors refugee movements


GOVERNMENT has placed immigration officers in border areas between Zambia and Namibia on high alert after some refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are reported to have set off to that country on foot from Mongu community hall where they were staying.
Ministry of Home Affairs spokesperson Moses Suwali said Government is closely monitoring the movements of over 60 refugees who want to enter Namibia.
“We have alerted immigration officers on border areas between Namibia and Zambia so that the refugees are brought back into the country,” Mr Suwali said.
