By CHRISTINE CHIHAME
GOVERNMENT has allocated K42 million for the construction of the Michael Chilufya Sata Girls Secondary School in Isoka.
Isoka member of Parliament (MP) Malozo Sichone said yesterday that the construction of the first-ever girls’ secondary school in Isoka has commenced.
Mr Sichone, who is also Eastern Province minister, said Government has awarded the contract to build Isoka girls’ school to China Jianghxi International.
He said the people of Isoka are happy that Government has embarked on the construction of the school.
Mr Sichone said this demonstrates the importance President Sata attaches to the provision of quality education.
“I am delighted to say that Michael Chilufya Sata Girls Secondary School will be completed next year. People in Isoka are happy with the government because it has delivered all the development projects promised in Isoka,” Mr Sichone said.
He said the school has been named after President Sata in appreciation of the massive development taking place in Isoka under his administration.
Mr Sichone said once completed, Isoka Girls Secondary School will greatly benefit the people of Isoka as parents and guardians will no longer spend a lot of money on sending their  children  to Chinsali and Nakonde.
Meanwhile, Mr Sichone said Government has invested an additional K52 million in the construction of a stretch of 25-kilometre township roads in Isoka.
He said works on selected roads in the district are progressing well.
