State, Argentine agric experts to hold talks

A TEAM of agricultural experts from Argentina was scheduled to arrive in Zambia yesterday.
The team, which will be in the country until Saturday this week, is scheduled to hold talks with government officials aimed at reviving cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries.
The delegation, consists of officials from the Embassy of Argentina in South Africa, Argentine Ministry of Agriculture and the Argentine National Institute of Agriculture Technology (INTA).
INTA is an Argentine organisation whose mission is to foster innovations in agriculture and livestock, agro-food and agro-industrial sectors.
This is according to a statement released on Tuesday by press secretary at the Zambian mission in Pretoria, Nicky Shabolyo.
The visit is a follow-up to last year’s bilateral meetings that the Zambian High Commission in South Africa had with Argentine government on Scientific and Technological cooperation in the field of agriculture.
Zambia and Argentina signed a memorandum of understanding on agriculture whose modalities of corporation include joint identification of scientific and technical priority areas, formulation and implementation of joint research programmes and exchange experiences.
The visit is aimed at firming up bilateral corporation and also to discuss with Zambia’s Ministry of Agriculture how the Argentine government could share and also extend free technological expertise in order to increase agricultural productivity.
