Stanbic pledges long-term link with suppliers

TRYNESS TEMBO, Lusaka
STANBIC Bank Zambia has pledged to develop long-term partnerships with local suppliers and provide access to finance.
Stanbic Bank Zambia chief executive officer Charles Mudiwa has also called for professionalism among local suppliers in meeting their contractual obligation by providing high quality goods and services to the bank’s clients.
Mr Mudiwa said at a suppliers’ cocktail recently that the bank is keen to develop long-term partnerships with its suppliers by creating an environment which is beneficial to both Stanbic and its suppliers.
“We pledge our support for the nation’s local suppliers and we are committed to working closely with them to help them harness and realise business opportunities to achieve their business goals, thus creating more opportunities for investment that will ultimately result in more employment generation,” he said.
He said the bank will play a more active role in providing access to finance to local suppliers, thereby increase their capacity to fulfil contractual obligations.
Mr Mudiwa said the bank is in 20 countries in Africa and this presents opportunities for local suppliers to tap into its regional and global network to supply goods and services outside Zambia.
He added that apart from providing access to finance, Stanbic also provides requisite expertise to all its suppliers to manage risks effectively, and provide them an opportunity to grow their investments.
Meanwhile, Mr Mudiwa said the bank is committed to providing solutions to some of the challenges that various sectors of the economy are facing in terms of long-term financing.
