South sees sense in 7NDP

SHIKANDA KAWANGA, Livingstone
THE Patriotic Front (PF) in Southern Province says people in the region are confident in Government’s ability to implement the Seventh National Development plan (7NDP) efficiently and effectively.

PF Southern Province information and publicity vice-secretary Trymore Mwenda said this is so because of President Lungu’s administration’s prowess in implementing massive development projects countrywide.
Mr Mwenda said the launch of the 7NDP will ensure coordinated development across the country.
He said in a statement yesterday that the launch of the 7NDP is a yardstick that Government will use to gauge its development road map for the next five years.
“It is gratifying that during the launch, President Lungu repeated Government’s resolve to diversify the economy from mining to agriculture, among other cross cutting benchmarks that have been set out in the 7NDP.”
He said people should be convinced and confident that Government will achieve the goals intended in the 7NDP.
“People of Southern Province will have their equal share as the major focus of the plan is economic diversification, job creation, poverty and vulnerability reduction, reduced development inequalities, enhanced human development; and enhanced governance environment for a diversified and inclusive economy,” he said.
Mr Mwenda said the theme: `Accelerating development efforts towards Vision 2030 without leaving anyone behind’, gives Zambians, including people of Southern Province, total ownership of the development plan.
“We would therefore like to call upon the people of Southern Province to support Government as it undertakes this noble cause of reducing poverty in communities.”
He said the party in the province will interpret the 7NDP to people on the ground, and support Government as it implements programmes aimed at bettering people’s living standards.
Mr Mwenda said the 7NDP captures President Lungu’s vision of a smart Zambia that fully utilises information and communications technology for development.
He said this can be realised through community participation and contribution towards moving the province in the direction of modern technology.
