South Korean company seeks partnership to import fertiliser

TRYNESS TEMBO, Lusaka
HYOSUNG ONB Company Limited, a South Korean fertiliser producer, is seeking to partner with Zambian companies to import fertilisers.
The firm has since engaged the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) through the Zambian embassy in Korea expressing interest for a partnership with local agro-dealers.

According to the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU)’s Friday brief availed to the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Hyosung ONB has also stated that it can be engaged in setting up and financing an organic fertiliser manufacturing plant in Zambia.
“According to correspondence to ZNFU from ZDA, Hyosung ONB contacted the Zambian embassy in the Republic of Korea expressing interest for a partnership with a Zambian agro-dealer.
“Zambia’s centrality seems striking for the Korean company and looks at the country’s neighbours as potential markets,” the union says.
ZDA is also inviting farmers to the Africa-Japan Business Forum to promote trade and investment between the Japanese private sector and the African countries.
The forum is expected to be held from July 25-28 by the African Development Bank (AfDB) in conjunction with African Diplomatic Corporation.
“The forum affords an opportunity to participate in a business to business platform interaction with hundreds of participants in attendance.
“ZDA is inviting members of the ZNFU to be part of the Zambian delegation that will travel to Japan,” ZNFU says.
