THE House of Chiefs has said it is following up reports that some chiefs in Southern Province are allegedly discouraging farmers from collecting inputs from the Government for the 2016/2017 farming season under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).
On Tuesday, the Patriotic Front said it had information that some chiefs and headmen in the province were inciting their subjects not to get the fertiliser and seed on account of late delivery.
House of Chiefs chairperson Chief Ntambu of the Lunda people of Mwinilunga district in North-Western Province said in an interview yesterday that he had so far spoken to two chiefs from Southern Province over the matter.
“I spoke to two chiefs from Southern Province to ascertain the truth but they are saying as far as they are concerned, they know nothing about that. I am still consulting with the people on the ground to find out the truth,” Chief Ntambu said.
