South African takes early lead

SOUTH African James Kamte scored an impressive seven-under-par 66 to take an overnight lead of the Zambia Sugar Open Golf Championship that teed off at Lusaka Golf Club yesterday.
And Zambia’s title hopefuls Madalitso Muthiya and Dayne Moore both ended the first day with three-under-par apiece while defending champion Vaughn Groenewald struggled to sink one-under-par.
Kamte recorded seven birdies on the second, eighth, 10th, 11th, 13th, 17th and 18th holes to claim sole top position of the R1.5 million rich championship.
