THE SOS children’s village in Livingstone is this year supporting 350 families across the tourist capital under the Family Strengthening Programme at a total cost of over K4 million.
SOS Livingstone village family strengthening coordinator Chipo Syakayuwa said the programme has benefitted 1,872 children and is running in six communities in Ngwenya, Malota, Libuyu, Nakatindi, Linda and Zecco townships.
She said in an interview that the community-based childcare programme run by the SOS children’s villages Zambia established in 2008.
Ms Syakayuwa said the programme aims at preventing child abandonment through empowering vulnerable children, youths, guardians and the family as a whole.
