Songs to go with Easter

Gospel grooves with Felix Nyambe
CHRISTIANS the world over are celebrating the Easter Holiday, which is the very reason why those who believe in the cross can claim Salvation and eternal life because of the death of Jesus Christ.
To many others, especially in the gospel music realm, it is also time for them to proclaim their allegiance to the Messiah.
In their own words or is it songs, the artistes have come out to produce songs which talk about the events at Calvary.
Several songs have over the years and more recently been blaring on the airwaves all in the name of celebrating Easter.
Hot on the list of Gospel Grooves are such songs as R. Sindy Z’s Kwata, Kabova (Victor Chaushi)’s Nipamusalaba and Theresa Kabwita’s Pamulanda Waine.
The song Kwata talks about when Jesus said “it is finished” on the cross, while Nipamusalaba (It’s on the cross) and Pamulandu Waine, (Because of me) both speak volumes of what transpired on the cross all because of the love of Jesus for mankind.
Penjani’s It is Well, Debbie (On the Cross), Felix (Muli Ba Luse), Eva Lubono (Uluse Lwa Ba Lesa), Roberto (Palupanda), Lulu Haangala (Are You Washed) and Genesis (Ni Mwazi), bring about the reason why God gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to the world.
In her song, Lulu says the blood of Jesus washes our sins and our iniquities.
As it is confirmed in the Book of John 3:16 that “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life…”
And in most of the songs recorded by our local artistes and those from foreign artistes such as Hillsong United (At the Cross) and Don Moen (Above All), Easter is simply when the Lord Jesus Christ conquered the grave and rose from the dead.
“Because of Easter, Jesus has come back to distinguish our past and light our future,” said Debbie from her base in the United Kingdom.
For Kabova, he says “it is the very cross where we have to look up to if we have to receive our salvation, healing and redemption”.
Gospel singer Ausward says: “Jesus Christ is the sacrifice that atones of our sins and not only our sins but the sins of the world.”, 0979360993/0964873656.
