Solwezi ups malaria fight

SOLWEZI acting district commissioner Chipawa Chipawa says government, in partnership with the Global Fund, will this year provide support to enable the national malaria programme to fumigate more than 27,000 structures during the 2015/2016 indoor residual spraying campaign in the district.
Mr Chipawa said the measure will result in about 291,876 people in Solwezi being protected against malaria.
Speaking during the launch of the 2015/2016 indoor residual spraying campaign at Kazomba on New Year’s eve in Solwezi, Mr  Chipawa urged spray operators to work hard because the success of the programme depends on their commitment.
“The operators and their supervisors are the critical ingredient in the spraying process,” Mr Chipawa said.
He said Zambia targets to eliminate malaria by 2020 to enable citizens to experience a healthy and long life.
