A FEMALE civic leader in Tumvwanganai ward in Solwezi central, Kyapalushi Kapatamoyo, has partnered with various stakeholders in alleviating poverty, which has negatively impacted on women and children.

Ms Kyapalushi, 33, the only female councillor in Solwezi Central, said poverty levels in the area are alarming and worrying.

“The absence of women in decision-making platforms is my source of concern. Solwezi Municipal Council has had no female councillor. Women have potential to change the lives of communities if only they are put in key positions,” she said.
She said a strategic plan has been established to better the lives of people in the community.
Ms Kyapalushi said plans to upgrade two health centres in Kazomba area are under way.
