GOVERNMENT has reiterated its commitment to extending the social cash transfer programme to the remaining 27 districts in various parts of the country.
Ministry of Community Development and Social Services permanent secretary Davy Chikamata said in an interview recently that the aim of extending the programme is to ensure that it caters for deserving underprivileged households.
Dr Chikamata said the ministry is already facilitating for the training and formation of community welfare assistance committees to ensure the success of the programme.
Social cash transfer programmes, which are regular money payments to poor households, are meant to reduce poverty, promote sustainable livelihoods and increase production in the developing world.
