Social Cash Transfer doing well in Zambia

Dear editor,
ACCORDING to the Central Statistics Office, poverty levels have reduced from 60.5 percent to 54.4 percent owing to the social cash transfer by Government.

Readers may wish to know that from 2006 to 2016, a total of K896 million social cash transfer was made available to 590,000 vulnerable households.
This has enhanced food security and more parents are able to pay school user fees hence reducing poverty by 5.4 percent.
It is my prayer that in the 2018 national budget more funds will be allocated for the social cash transfer.
