Small-scale farmers seek Siliya’s help

THE National Union of Small Scale Farmers of Zambia (NUSSFZ) has appealed to Minister of Agriculture Dora Siliya to put in place mechanisms that will enable small scale farmers access finances at lower interest rates.
Speaking in an interview with the Sunday Mail on Thursday, NUSSFZ director general Frank Kayula said the level of productivity of most small scale farmers has remained low for a long time due to lack of finances.
“The cost of borrowing is too high in many financial institutions and this trend has for some time been discouraging small scale farmers from borrowing. This has led to small scale farmers failing to expand their level of productivity as far as crop yield is concerned,” he said.READ MORE
