Slow pace of Mkushi road works

Dear editor,
I AM extremely disappointed at the slow pace the local contractor is upgrading township roads in Mkushi.
The contractor has not shown commitment towards the project, which is expected to end in January next year because no single kilometre of township roads has been raised to bituminous standard. Surprisingly, we were told Government paid the contractor so that he could expedite the construction of the roads.
It is about time such local contractors were blacklisted and barred from getting road contracts because they tarnish the image of Government.
It would be difficult for Mkushi district to attract the much-needed investments during the Central Province investment forum and expo if the road infrastructure remains poor in spite of its immense agricultural productivity.
