Slain police officers promoted

THE Zambia Police Service has posthumously promoted the two officers who were killed by criminals in a heavy exchange of gunfire as they tried to thwart a robbery from

a bakery in Ndola on Tuesday.
Copperbelt police commissioner Charity Katanga announced the promotion of detective sergeants Francis Kunda and Benard Chilubula during a requiem service at Kansenshi Cemetery in Ndola yesterday.
“On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, I wish to announce that the two officers have been promoted to the next rank of inspector posthumously,’’ she said.
Mrs Katanga also said the police command on the Copperbelt has been ordered to consider enrolling into the service a member of each of the deceased’s families.
The service was also attended by Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo and Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo.
