Six countries to camp in Lusaka

SIX countries will set up camp in Lusaka to prepare with their Zambian counterparts ahead of the 2015 Congo Brazzaville All-Africa Games.
Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) president Thomas Chileshe said in Kitwe on Friday that the national amateur governing body will take advantage of the camping to adequately prepare pugilists for the championship.
Chileshe named Angola, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe as some of the countries that will camp in Lusaka.
“We are introducing the group camping, which played a big role in Zambian boxers winning medals in 2002. The group camping will see about six countries coming to camp in Zambia,” he said.
Chileshe said the group camping was used in 2002 and Zambia’s Kennedy Kanyanta minted a gold medal in Manchester.
Dennis Zimba and Davies Mwale won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
The group camping will take place between July and August.
And Chileshe said ZBF will take its time to select a team for the Congo Brazzaville outing.
He said only deserving boxers will be picked for the All-Africa Games.
The Brazzaville finals will run from September 4 to 19.
