Singer Chantel revived

CHANTEL

THELMA BWALYA, Lusaka
UP-AND-COMING gospel singer Chantel, who is said to have lost hope and faith after being sick for eight months, says she now feels revived.
Between May 2016 and February 2017, Chantel suffered from an illness which she says made her lose faith in God.
Chantel, who comes from a singing family, says the illness caused her to question God and forced her to withdraw from all church activities.
“My defining moment in my life was when I was down with a mysterious illness for over eight months. Doctors said they couldn’t find anything wrong with me,” she says. “This moment made me question my faith in God and I lost hope altogether. Not long after, I withdrew from church activities.”
Now, the Lusaka-born and bred singer says she hopes her music will encourage and uplift the listener and help draw them closer to God.
Born and raised in Lusaka, her family comprises of singers so it was easy for her to discover her passion and love for music.
Chantel, who released a single last year titled “I Believe” which talks about trust and faith in God, says when her healing eventually came, she renewed her faith in God.
Now, Chantel, who recently performed at the Art For Change concert in Lusaka, has a new single titled “Stronger”.
“’Stronger’ talks about perceiving the challenges of life with the belief that if something doesn’t kill you, then it will make you stronger,” she says. “The song was inspired by my personal story of overcoming illness and emerging stronger.”
