Siame runs to 4th position at Madrid finals

ROBINSON KUNDA, Lusaka
ZAMBIAN sprinter Sydney Siame on Friday night finished fourth in the 100 metres final at the Meeting Madrid Athletics Championship.

Siame, a Zambia Police officer, managed 10:22 seconds.
Yunier Perez of Cuba won the race after clocking an impressive 10:09 seconds while Zhenye Xie of China settled for a second place with 10:11seconds.
Jamaica’s Ryan Shields was third with 10:20 seconds while David Lima of Portugal was fifth with 10:25 seconds.
Brandon Carnes of the United States of America was in a distant sixth with 10:26 seconds.
In the heats, Siame put up a spirited performance and finished third on 10:06 seconds to progress to the final.
In April this year, Siame timed 9:88 seconds, which was one of the best in the world.
However, the International Association for Athletics Federation have doubted the timing, which Siame posted during the All-Comers Meet at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
Siame is in Europe preparing for next month’s World Championships set for London.
