SI number 110 of 2020 gets ZAM praise

EFFORTS of making Zambia more relevant in the manufacturing space are gaining momentum following the introduction of statutory instrument (SI) that allows for the suspension of customs duty on raw materials that cannot be sourced locally.
Government issued SI number 110 of 2020, which came into operation on January 1, which allows for suspension of customs duty on imported manufacturing inputs which cannot be sourced locally.
Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) president Ezekiel Sekele has described the SI as progressive as it will go a long way in resuscitating the sector, struggled most of last year due to effects of coronavirus.
The SI also comes at a time when the country has embraced the Economic Recovery Programme (ERP) which President Edgar Lungu launched on December 17, 2020.
