ZAMBIA will next year launch SheTrades, a global initiative aimed at empowering women to trade and connect to international markets.
The SheTrade initiative is a campaign by the International Trade Centre (ITC) to connect one million women entrepreneurs to the market by 2020 and also help corporations include women entrepreneurs in their supply chains.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Kayula Siame said the initiative will help women entrepreneurs to secure government contracts, strike business deals, unlock financial services, access to information and raise their profile.
“We are in discussion with ITC on how we can further enhance programmes and initiatives that can support women in trade. We will be launching the SheTrade programme in Zambia in 2018,” she said.
