IT WAS the same old story for the She-polopolo as they bowed out of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women Championship in the semi-finals after losing to Cameroon at Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, yesterday.
“I would have loved us to win that game because we created chances. It’s just unfortunate that we didn’t convert them into goals. But all in all, the girls did their part. Losing 1-0 is not bad. Every girl has been given a chance and we are building a team, most of the girls are young,” Zambia coach Beauty Mwamba said in an interview.
Even last year, Zambia were eliminated in the semi-finals by South Africa and the She-polopolo went on to finish third.
In the other semi-final match, South Africa stayed on course to defend the regional title after bashing Uganda 2-0 to set up an explosive final against Cameroon.
