Shalawambe, Amayenge, Dorika to thrill Kabwe

SHALAWAMBE, one of Zambia’s renowned Kalindula bands, may today perform in Kabwe for the first time in many years.
This will be at the 44th Central Province Agricultural and Commercial Show which is being held at Railways Ground for the first time.
The annual event will be held under a theme: ‘Managing the Environment for Growth’, and will run from today up to Sunday, according to the Central Province Agricultural and Commercial Show Society (CPACSS).
The evergreen Amayenge will be the guest band, and is likely to steal the attention of show goers.
Dorika Bob (Nkosha) will also be at the stadium, the home ground of Kabwe Warriors, not for football but to play a very different game–comedy which is in short supply in Kabwe.
With Amayenge, Shalawambe Band and Dorika performing at one venue, it will be a unique cocktail of entertainment.
CPACSS vice-chairperson Rabson Mwenda is confident that with Amayenge being the guest band, the showgoers will be entertained to genuine live music.
“We are also trying to see if we can bring the Shalawambe Band to perform maybe on Friday [today],” Mr Mwenda told the Weekend Mail in an interview.
Mwenda assured that people who will stray to Railways Ground to watch Amayenge, Shalawambe, Dorika and others will not regret as it will be a show to remember.
Amayenge’s last performance in Central Province was at the 50th Mkushi District Agricultural and Commercial Show held last month.
In this agrarian district, the group led by Alice Chali, thrilled show goers with their live music for two days, churning out their old and latest tunes.
