Settle bride price, man asks in-law

MUNIDE ZULU, Lusaka
THE Chelstone Court heard how George Chipumpu, 70, asked his son-in-law, Charles Tembo, 42, to settle the remaining K1,200 towards bride price before being cleansed.
Tembo sued Chipumpu for failure to have Tembo cleansed following the death of Tembo’s wife.
Tembo, who was married to his late wife for 15 years, has two children with her. The court also heard that Tembo raised three of his step children.
Chipumpu, who was speaking before senior presiding magistrate, Hope Mwila and senior court magistrate Bertha Zulu, however said Tembo refused to be cleansed because he still had not settled the amount he was charged towards bride price.
