‘Set aside partisan interests’

LUNGU

HONE SIAME, Lusaka
CHIEFTAINESS Kawaza of the Chewa people in Katete district in Eastern Province has called on Zambians to put aside their partisan interests and support President Lungu’s vision of delivering development across the country.

She said in an interview on Tuesday that President Lungu deserves the support of all well-meaning Zambians so that the country can continue recording development in all sectors of the economy.
Chieftainess Kawaza said time for politicking is over and that it is now time to give President Lungu chance to deliver his campaign promises through implementation of his pro-poor policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
“We are seeing a lot of development under this government. We need to give President Lungu and his government support for the good job they are doing.” Chieftainess Kawaza said.
She said it is also imperative on politicians and citizens in general to treasure the peace the country has enjoyed over the years.
Chieftainess Kawaza urged politicians to engage in issue-based politics as opposed to politics of character assassination.
She said the traditional leadership in Katete remains committed to safeguarding peace and promoting unity among its subjects.
She said there can be no development without peace, and therefore, every Zambian has an obligation to ensure peace reigns.
She also warned her fellow traditional leaders to uphold their role of working with the government of the day.
“Where there is peace, there is development. We will work with Government to foster development,” she said.
She said the traditional leadership in Katete is indebted to Government for investing huge resources in various development projects.
Chief tainess Kawaza also commended President Lungu for being instrumental in fighting early child marriages and improving the welfare of women and children.
