Samsung wins ‘best handset’ award at Barcelona show

SAMSUNG’S innovations in mobile technology has been recognised at the 2015 Mobile World Congress recently held in Barcelona, Spain.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge was named the ‘Best New Handset, tablet or device’ at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.
The award recognises the best new device launched during the show by the Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA), an association of mobile operators and companies that promote the GSM mobile telephone system.
This is the second consecutive year Samsung has received this award, following the Samsung Gear Fit in 2014.
The latest mobile product is expected to be on the Zambian market in April.
The company launched the Galaxy 6 and Galaxy Edge at the global conference with a worldwide on-line launch on March 1.
The 127mm phone features a Gorilla glass touch screen with an in-built battery, wireless charging option and runs on the Android platform.
Additionally at MWC 2015, Samsung’s mobile security platform KNOX was also awarded the ‘Best Security/Anti-fraud Product of Solution’ from the GSMA.
The smartphones’ software and mobile security capabilities were recognised as the best solution launched during this year’s show in the enterprise mobile security division. KNOX has received rigorous government accreditations worldwide, including the United States Department of Defence.
The company says it bases its product development on research on the desires of its customers to ensure they are “built for purpose”.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge offers a unique curved dual-edge display and alert feature called edge lighting, which allows users to be alerted to notifications even if the smartphone is face down. Users can also assign colours to their favourite contacts through another new feature called people edge, which makes the phone glow that corresponding colour.
